November Edition

November 2, 2026

From the Principal's Office

Teresa Myers, Alternative Education Administrator

Dear Families,

Fall Festival Fun & ECCO Community Shoutout!
What a fantastic way to wrap up the week! Our field trip to Johnson's Farm followed by our Fall Festival was a wonderful success. Many thanks to the creativity, enthusiasm, and teamwork of our staff and students. Events like these remind us how special our school community is and how important it is to create opportunities for students to connect, have fun, and feel a sense of belonging. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible!

Looking Ahead to November: Attendance Matters!
As we transition into November, we want to take a moment to emphasize how important regular school attendance is to your student's success. With quarter 1 grades coming out soon, we want to remind families that consistent attendance plays a major role in academic progress. When students miss class time, they miss important instruction, assignments, classroom discussions, and opportunities to connect with teachers and peers.
Being present at school helps students:
  • Receive direct instruction and important explanations from teachers.
  • Stay informed about daily expectations, assignments, and learning goals.
  • Participate in collaborative learning and ask questions when they need clarification.
  • Build positive relationships, routines, and connections within our school community.
We encourage families to check in with their students about attendance, daily routines, and schoolwork. If you have questions, concerns, or need support, please reach out. We know that every student's circumstances are different, and we want to partner with families to help remove barriers and support students in showing up and being successful.
Warmly,

Teresa Myers

ECCO's Daycare

The ECCO Child Development Center has an exciting announcement for families:
The ECCO Flexcare child care classroom will be opening up two spaces to community families. This is a childcare opportunity for the public to enroll their child/children in our childcare program. There will be two spaces available for community members from January 5th to enroll their child at the center, which is located on the campus of ECCO High School, 200 North Monroe St., Eugene, OR.

We serve children ages 6 weeks to 18 months. The center will accommodate our teen parents as well as up to two community children. Our childcare program provides a nurturing environment where your child can grow and flourish. We have three full-time, highly qualified, experienced teachers to care, nurture, and teach your child each day.

Childcare is offered Monday-Friday during school hours, 8:15-3:30pm, pick-up by 3:45pm - with the exception of Early Release Wed, when the pick-up is 2:45pm. We follow the 4J school calendar for High Schools, and child care is closed on all non-student facing days (including all holidays, grading days, and Professional Development days). Full time pricing is $1500.00 per month, and can be paid through Schoolpay.
*If a child is picked up after closing time, late fees are $1.00 per minute.
Only December and June will be pro-rated for the week(s) we are open. The last day of school is Wed, June 16th (with early release time)- Provided no make-up weather days are needed.

If you are interested in being placed on the waitlist for community spots, please email Jill Johnson at johnson_ji@4j.lane.edu.

Interested in Volunteering at ECCO?

We'd love to have your help! Our ambition this year is to assemble a regularly updated list of volunteers to assist with day-to-day needs here at ECCO.

If you have 1-3 hours at a time to come in and help with small assignments throughout the building. There are some areas which can ALWAYS use a regular, ongoing volunteer to help (such as the Front Office greeting and answering phones).  We would also love to have a families helping with Food Boxes or Food Drives, Clothing Drives, Staff Appreciation weeks, Field Trip Chaperones.

All volunteers will need to go through our 4J Volunteer Application, so if you haven't already done so, that will be your first step. The application only takes about 5 minutes and the clearance usually takes about a week or two to get an email response back.

Once you have completed this step, please email price_v@4j.lane.edu to express your interest in joining our building volunteer team. Please include any specific tasks or roles you are interested in pursuing.

We can't wait to have more community support join us in our building! Thank you all for your willingness to help our students!

Updates for School Meals

Updates for School Meals
With school approaching, it's a perfect time for parents to have a plan for student nutrition for the year. 4J Nutrition Services is ready to help, from sharing menus and supporting special dietary needs, to providing the pathway to setting up meal accounts.

This year will see some changes to school meals in 4J, which are similar to how all the neighboring school districts operate: each student will continue to receive one breakfast and one lunch each school day at no cost. Additional items, such as seconds, extra milks, or single milks for home lunch will be charged to the student's meal account. Families will have multiple resources available to help them understand the process, set up accounts, and manage payments with confidence. Budget constraints leave the district unable to continue a practice of allowing unlimited free additional meals. Student health and well-being is important for their success in school, and district staff will work with families to make sure every option and resource is explored for all health, nutrition and overall well-being concerns. Visit the Nutrition Services web page for more information and help.

Required Annual Notices for Families

Eugene School District 4J is committed to transparency, family engagement, and protecting student privacy. Federal and state laws, along with district policy, provide parents/guardians and students age 18 and older with important rights related to education records, privacy, directory information, surveys, statewide assessments, human sexuality education, and more. All parents and guardians are encouraged to review the information and forms provided by the district to learn more about these rights, including opportunities to review instructional materials, opt out of certain activities, and access student records. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your school administrator—we’re here to help support informed families and a strong school community.
